Ocean Yachts 40' 40 Express 2001

An innovative cabin layout and a notably affordable price are among the attributes of the Ocean 40 Sport Fish, a good-looking open sport fisherman whose highly elevated bridge deck and spacious mid-cabin interior set her apart from most other express fishing boats of her type. She’s built on the same proven modified-V hull used in the production of her sistership, the Ocean 40 SS, with a sharp entry, a shallow keel and a relatively wide 14-foot, 2-inch beam. Rather than being a dedicated fishing boat, the 40 Sport Fish is better described as a capable fisherman with a comfortable cruising interior. Raising the helm several extra feet from the cockpit provides the headroom for the private mid-cabin, but veteran anglers will note that communication between the helm and cockpit is compromised. A transom baitwell, tackle lockers and a transom door are standard in the cockpit; there’s near-standing headroom in the otherwise compact engine room, and the bridge deck is arranged with L-shaped lounge seating aft of the centerline helm. A good performer, twin 420hp Cat diesels cruise the Ocean 40 Sport Fish at 22 knots and reach 30+ knots wide open. 

Boarding is easy via the swim platform and starboard side transom door and onto the very large aft cockpit deck. The cockpit is well equipped with a molded transom livewell, in-deck fishbox, tackle center, fresh and saltwater wash downs, and teak sole. Up the few steps to the raised air-conditioned helm deck, you will find a centerline helm with port side L-shaped and port side bench accommodations. To starboard of the helm is the sliding door for access to the salon. The salon features a teak and holly sole, L-shaped settee, ice maker, full galley and flat screen tv with entertainment center. The surprisingly roomy Master is forward, features ample storage, cedar lined hanging locker, and overhead ventilation hatch. The guest stateroom is aft, equipped with a full-size berth and features ample space considering the size of the vessel. The head is equipped with an electric head, large stall shower, mirrored vanity with sink. 

Cabin entry is to starboard of the helm, sliding door entry. Just a few steps down the stairs lead to the teak and holly cabin sole. Immediately to port is the L-Shaped settee to starboard is the ice maker and flat screen TV with entertainment center. The Galley is forward to port and master all the way forward and head to starboard. The guest stateroom is aft and centerline.
