This exquisite 16 meter was built in Whangarei, New Zealand by Alan Orams (Seaglass Marine) from the vaunted Herreshoff designs. One of 16 sisterships, ‘Ethereal’ is immaculate, inside & out. She was delivered to the original owner as an empty hull in 1975. He was a professional finish joiner, and the interior shows the love that he put into it over a 3 year period. She was finally launched the first time in 1979.
She is in like-new condition and ready for your global circumnavigations. The boat has been continuously maintained, with recent paint, interior varnish, upholstery, engine cooling & exhaust, batteries, chain and rigging, including a new furler, self-tacking staysail track and powerful Anderson winches. Forward most is the sail-locker / anchor-chain locker and ample storage, life-vests etc. Moving aft is a 3 berth cabin with possibility to join the two top-berths into a very large full width bed. Aft and to port is a large bath with spacious shower and laundry basin, electric toilet and a marble wash basin. Opposite the bathroom are two Pullman berths in a cabin enclosed with curtain.
Aft is a spacious, traditional salon finished in varnished mahogany. On the port-side is a high-gloss dinner table which seats 6. To starboard is a large sofa with pipe berth above. Aft to starboard is the navigation station with SSB, radar and autopilot repeater. Aft of the navigation station is a single berth in the captain’s cabin with hanging locker. Aft to port is the fully equipped galley with ample workspace, fridge, freezers and 4 burner gas stove. Aft through the galley is the spacious master cabin with full width bed, hanging wardrobe, separate toilet and ample storage lockers.
