2005 Heritage East 36 Sundeck Trawler
The boat comes standard with a single Cummins diesel engine and performs at 9 knots, 2000 rpm, burning just 3.5 gallons per hour. Not bad economy, considering today's fuel prices. Easy to operate and maneuver with a single engine AND bow and sterns thrusters!
Heritage East 36 has proven itself with single-digit fuel economy at single-digit speeds, and it maximizes accommodations in a boat that is easily handled by a couple. It has everything that most couples need to do the Great Circle Route, enjoy coastal cruising or spend their winters in the tropics. And it would make a fine liveaboard too!

ACCOMMODATIONS:
You can step onto the Heritage East 36 through the port or starboard boarding gates or by stepping onto the swim platform and up the molded, dog friendly, steps onto the aft deck. The aft deck is large with ample room for a settee and chairs. The area around the aft steps is protected by stainless steel rails and chain gate to avoid falls. The aft deck is fully enclosed with a hard top and blue Sunbrella and eisenglass. Additionally, there are roll up bug screens. Port and starboard are Sunbrella fabric wing doors leading to the wide side decks protected by high rails and hand rails. The foredeck is flat and access to the bow is safe. You can walk around the entire forward deck. Forward on the aft deck is a wet bar with vanity, molded countertop and sink, refrigerator/ice maker, and storage.
Centered are steps to the flybridge. The guest seating is port and starboard with new Sunbrella blue fabric. The Todd helm seat is centered and offers easy access to all controls, engine instrumentation and electronics. The bridge bis protected with new Sunbrella blue canvas and eisenglass enclosure. The visibility is panoramic. Aft is access to the aft deck top which features two solar panels and access to the folding radar arch. Returning to the aft deck and down the port side steps you enter the main cabin. The hand rail is a nicely appointed teak railing. Along the port side, outboard, are several storage lockers with louvered doors. Two wicker chairs with cushions allow guest seating. Centered between them is a cocktail table. Forward is the breakfast bar with vision and direct communication with the galley crew. Under the bar there are storage cabinets.
The helm is forward on the port side and there is a pilothouse sliding door leading to the side deck. Aft of the door is a large L-Shaped settee with blue upholstery and a dinette table with two leaves, centered storage cubby and a cabinet in the base. Aft are several storage cabinets, liquor locker and shelving.
Centered and down a few steps is the master cabin companionway. The master cabin takes full use of the 8-foot-long by 11-feet-wide aft section of the hull and maximizes liveaboard accommodations. There is an island queen berth, built-in bureaus, hanging lockers, and enough useable storage for anyone. Mirrors above the bureaus enhance the visual space of the cabin.
The master head has a separate stand-up shower and the usual bathroom amenities, with full standing headroom. A large locker on the starboard side of the stateroom is set up for a combination washer/dryer. Sitting on the master berth, with the cabin's sliding pocket door open, I found it hard to believe this trawler's interior was inside a hull that measures just 36 feet! And best of all, it is accomplished without feeling squeezed or claustrophobic; rather, it feels open and relaxed.
Back to the main cabin and forward, down a few steps is the galley to port. The U Shaped galley has double sinks, stove and oven, newer dual voltage refrigerator and plenty of food preparation and storage spaces. Across is access to the day head, shared with the forward cabin. Grated floor, vanity, molded countertop and sink, storage and an electric toilet add to the larger feel. All the way forward is the guest cabin with a starboard side Pullman double berth, outboard shelving port and starboard, a small settee on the port side, hanging locker and privacy door.
GALLEY:
Forward of the main cabin and down three steps (the stairs are hinged to allow engine room access) leads to the portside U-Shaped galley complete with deep double sinks, a propane stove and oven (the propane tank is located on the flybridge under the console), and sufficient counter space for cooking preparation. There are multiple storage cabinets and large in-counter deep storage lockers. The location of the galley makes it a down galley, in one sense, but the forward salon windows are located to really open the galley area, and anyone working in the galley can easily maintain eye contact with those in the saloon. It is the best of both worlds in the galley up/down debate.
ELECTRICAL:
Main panel is located at the lower helm under the steering wheel in a protected cabinet with folding glass door.
ELECTRONICS:
Electronics in lower and bridge helms are located within easy reach of helm seating.

MECHANICAL:
Access to the engine room is under the galley steps, or by lifting hatches in the salon sole for excellent engine room access. The boat is built with a single Cummins 220hp engine, with two fuel tanks straddling the engine, leaving lots of room around the engine for maintenance and inspection. I measured 24 inches around the engine, with the genset located forward.
Deck and Hardware:
Well cared for by a fastidious owner who has maintained her with an open check book. Well maintained Cummins with know area diesel mechanic caring for the boat over the last several years. Seller change in plans dictates the sales.
Easy to see just outside New Bern, NC in Aurora, NC.
Jet service available to new Bern (EWN) through American and Breese Airways.
Ready to go, not winterized. In the water at private dock.
