The Grand Banks 46 Europa is one of the most popular of the classic Grand Banks in the fleet. Her large salon with the galley up, two full staterooms, two heads, great aft deck and flybridge deck, make this the perfect long-range cruiser. Her Semi-displacement hull and a full keel design has been proven to be a performer in rough seas. She is equipped with reliable twin 3126 Caterpillar engines and Naiad Stabilizers, providing more comfortable conditions on the voyage.
Specifications
Built on the same hull form as the popular GB 46 Classic, the Grand Banks 46 Europa offers a spacious deck house that opens aft to a shaded cockpit. The extra living space of the saloon and cockpit area, well protected deck space, abundant storage throughout, and the expansive flybridge area all add up to a a very popular design. The flybridge extends over both side decks and the cockpit, providing extra protection from the sun and inclement weather. This extended flybridge is spacious enough for a complete steering and navigational station with built-in seating, an entertainment area, and a dinghy mounted athwart ship. A prominent feature of the Europa design is its connection of the interior saloon with the outside cockpit. With the beautifully crafted sliding door open at anchor or at dockside, the living space flows naturally from the indoors to the outdoors. The galley is readily accessible to this expanded living space, a bonus for entertaining. The 46 Europa can be ordered with distinctly different accommodation plans. The standard layout features a forward cabin with queen berth and en suite head and a second cabin to port with two single bunks. A guest head with shower lies to starboard. Cruising often with extra guests Consider the three cabin, two head layout. Or, for an especially spacious main saloon, the galley-down, two cabin layout. A truly novel use of space has been incorporated by a number of owners: a special crew's or children's cabin in the huge storage area under the cockpit. This unique arrangement is an example of how imaginative Grand Banks engineers can be. Engine room access on the 46 Europa is via an entrance through the rear bulkhead under the cockpit. This allows for quick checks on equipment without disturbing the guests and crew in the main saloon. The engine room, with five-feet of headroom, has plenty of space for installation of the standard generator and a host of options. As with the Grand Banks 46 Classic and Motor Yacht, the Europa can be powered by a number of diesel options, from a single engine to a pair of turbocharged V8s. Cruising speeds range between eight and 14 knots and top speeds can reach 18 knots.
Safari is a galley-up, two-stateroom two-head layout. She can be boarded from either side, through side boarding gates. You can access entry to the salon directly through double sliding doors from the cockpit.
