2008 Grand Banks 55 Eastbay SX

The Eastbay 55 SX is an enclosed salon Downeast sedan cruiser first developed by Grand Banks in 1993 with the launch of the EB38, appealing to a younger customer that wanted a speedier boat with comfort and plenty of space for relaxing and socializing, as well as yachtsmen transitioning to power, but wanting greater speed than a trawler. The Eastbay line features the classic Downeast lines and profile with low-slung raised deckhouse and foredeck cabin roof, upturned bow with sharp entry sweeping aft to a rounded transom, and gentle sheer to the large open cockpit, that have popularized the Downeast Maine lobster boat style and endeared the Eastbay models to many (thousands have been launched since that first EB38 in 1993).

The Eastbay 55 SX was designed with the deckhouse extended by 3ft to expand the main deck living area to 158 sq ft, along with an opening sunroof (with OceanAir screens) and large surrounding windows that add brightness to the open, airy ambience of the interior. Curved aft corner windows aid aft visibility from the helm. A large aft window opens electronically, lowering into the bulkhead for increased airflow and connection with aft cockpit. The large 103 sq ft cockpit features built-in cushioned seating on the forward bulkhead, with a section that lifts for access to the engine room. The cockpit is a great spot for sunset cocktails and relaxing. LISA MARIE features large double sunpads with headrests on the foredeck cabin roof, between the two dorade box vents. A sturdy handrail is on either side of the cabin roof, in addition to the full side railings that extend from bow along sidedecks to the cockpit steps for safety.

Based on the original C. Ray Hunt & Assoc. proven hull design for excellent performance and seaworthiness, the Eastbay 55 SX tracks well with comfort and stability in challenging sea conditions, such as 5ft swells. Her sharp bow entry slices through head seas without pounding. LISA MARIE is easy for a cruising couple to operate with excellent unobstructed all-around visibility, single lever engine controls, bow thruster, full electronics, and latching side door next to the starboard helm. A double bench companion seat is on portside at the chart table which is open to the galley below allowing the forward helm windows to stream natural light into the lower-level galley and accommodations foyer. Beautiful traditional matched teak interior fit and finish, granite countertops, and hand-laid teak planked cockpit deck and steps add to the Eastbay 55 SX’s classy elegance.
