Northern Rose is a handy double-ended sloop designed by Joel White and built partially (hull) by a Mr. James Pearson who unfortunately was not able complete construction of what would be his dream boat. The hull was acquired by Brooklin Boat Yard who completed the project over the winter of 2014 - 2015.
Northern Rose was commissioned and launched in May of 2015 and was used by her original owner primarily for day sailing here in Brooklin (Maine) on the Eggemoggin Reach.
Northern Rose changed hands in 2021 and her new / current owner wanting to occasionally cruise Northern Rose made some thoughtful upgrades make the boat more comfortable for his occasional overnight / weekend forays further afield along the coast of Maine.
Northern Rose has been stored with and maintained by Brooklin Boat Yard since her first launching back in 2015. As such she is in very good condition with little to no work apart from normal spring commissioning tasks needed to allow her new owners their own adventures.

+ Interior Accommodations and Features
Under her first ownership Northern Rose was used exclusively for day sailing here in Brooklin, Maine. Reflecting this intended use the interior accommodations were quite simple and straight forward with little in the way of unnecessary extras.
Her current owner wanting to feel comfortable going further afield has made some thoughtful upgrades to Northern Rose such as adding a helm compass, GPS chart plotter, teak handrails below decks and installing an Airhead composting toilet (replacing the previous bucket).
Coming down the companionway from the cockpit there is a simple galley space to port and an open / wet locker space to starboard. Next forward is the main saloon area with settee berths port and starboard with shelf space above and outboard of the settees and a bulkhead mounted table that folds down to provide dining space for up to four people.
The galley and main saloon areas are nicely finished off in the Herreshoff style of white painted bulkheads and joinery accented by satin varnished Mahogany trim. The cabin sole is teak board left bare / natural finished and the area is well lit and ventilated by four bronze opening ports (with screens) in the cabin sides.
Going forward from the main saloon one enters the forward cabin. This space houses the Airhead composting toilet immediately to port and there is a raised platform forward underneath which is housed a 35-gallon water supply tank. If the next owners of Northern Rose so desired it would be quite easy to convert the forward cabin to a private sleeping cabin with the addition of bunk either in a V-berth configuration of an off-set Pullman-Style double berth. Furthest forward is the storage area for anchor chain and rode. As in the main saloon area there are (two) bronze opening ports in the cabin sides to provide for light and ventilation and the cabin sole is teak board left (bare) natural.
When first designed and drawn by Joel White, this boat was to be equipped with a galley stove, galley sink, ice box cold storage, a freshwater system plumbed for (manually pumped) supply and (overboard discharge) drain. With the exception of a galley sink none of these features are currently installed aboard Northern Rose but there is the space and design work already done for installation either by a boat yard or the skilled amateur
