The Viking 54 Convertible is a mid-size sportfishing yacht designed for maximum performance and fishability. The new 54 Convertible that debuted at FLIBS (Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show) in 2020 is at the upper spectrum of Viking’s owner-operated models and still considered large enough for serious tournament competition. Each new Viking convertible is the culmination of all the research and development invested in previous models and the larger Viking convertibles. Hull refinements are subjected to virtual sea trials using Viking’s in-house Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to maximize efficiency and performance. Design refinement encompasses the entire vessel—interior, exterior, fishability, handling and operation, performance, and accommodations. Vinylester resin is used to infuse an engineered composite of fiberglass fabrics and coring materials to build a stronger, lighter weight hull that is both virtual and real-time tournament tested.

The new 54 Convertible’s spacious 154 sq ft cockpit features the Viking-pioneered raised observation mezzanine with comfortable cushioned seating to port, that provides a bait freezer compartment and engine room access by lifting the inboard seat section. Mezzanine area is shaded by the bridge deck overhang, offering respite on hot days. Bait and tackle center with drawers is starboard under the athwartship sturdy anodized aluminum ladder to aft bridge deck. Two steps lead up to starboard salon entrance door. A drink chill box, which can be refrigerated, is under the top step for quick access. Innovative storage systems keep the cockpit clear and open for action.
A full-length fishbox is built into starboard side deck. The portside deck has two storage compartments; forward bin can be plumbed as a livewell or used as fishbox or for stowage. The centerline power actuated lazarette hatch provides access to a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer (option) along with the steering, trim tabs, and drain pumps. A walk-through transom door with lift gate simplifies bringing aboard a catch, and 3-foot transom freeboard makes it easy to reach the waterline for releases. A mounting plate prelaminated in cockpit sole is able to support a full fighting chair or other options, such as a pedestal rocket launcher or a table. Cockpit can be outfitted with equipment and amenities at the Viking factory as ordered by owner, for turnkey delivery.
The 54C’s open flybridge features a streamlined walkaround center console with 360-degree sightlines, including the all-important aft cockpit. The raised dashboard features touchscreen electronic displays and flush mounted Bocatech switches for better accessibility and viewing. The raised teak helm pod with single lever controls and Optimus Electronic Power Steering provides fingertip control and precise maneuverability for chasing a trophy fish or negotiating tight marina spaces! Ladder-back helm and portside companion chairs provide comfortable support for long cruises. Guest seating is forward of console and lounges with forward facing backrests are on port and starboard sides. Owners can customize electronics—navigation, communications, and entertainment packages from Viking subsidiary Atlantic Marine electronics. A custom designed tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers and other optional equipment, such as electric teaser reels, outriggers, rocket launchers, and more can be built and/or professionally installed at Viking, for a truly semi-custom 54 Convertible.
The interior living spaces benefit from the 54C’s wide 17’8” beam. The wide-open spacious salon, dinette and galley area gleams with beautiful gloss or optional satin finished walnut or teak wood, creating an elegant and inviting place to relax or entertain. An L-shaped sectional lounge with hi-lo cocktail table is immediately to port, upon entering from the cockpit. Companionway flows from starboard salon door all the way through to the forepeak cabin. Premium wall-to-wall carpeting and designer furnishings and décor items are throughout the interior for a distinctly upscale ambiance. The well-equipped U-shaped peninsula galley features beautiful, engineered stone countertops. Peninsula overhang with two upholstered bar stools adds dining space or it can be used for serving food and beverages. Undercounter Subzero refrigerator and freezer units, electric cooktop, stainless-steel sink with garbage disposal, and plenty of storage in cabinets and drawers above and below, make meal prep a cinch. The dinette that seats four, is directly across on the starboard side. A 49” HDTV is mounted on the forward bulkhead above the dinette and is viewable from nearly all seating areas. The credenza aft of dinette holds the Boze home theater surround sound entertainment system. Speakers throughout the vessel tie-in to the salon system.
Viking’s standard accommodations plan of 3-staterooms and 2 heads features a master suite to port with walk-around queen berth, nightstands, a credenza to port, and ensuite head. Storage is plentiful with maple-lined compartment under lift-up mattress, built-in drawers under berth, large maple-lined hanging locker, and another credenza with a 32” HDTV mounted above. Forepeak VIP stateroom features standard centerline queen berth; an optional arrangement features crossover bunks. There is plenty of storage and a 32” HDTV among the amenities. The starboard stateroom has upper and lower berths, a hanging locker, and storage under lower bunk. All staterooms are carpeted, have direct A/C and stereo controls, speakers, and LED overhead lighting. Guest head is conveniently positioned between guest staterooms, and each has private access, as well as day access from companionway. Both heads feature Amtico flooring, electric heads, vanities, mirrored medicine cabinets, and large molded fiberglass shower stalls with built-in seats, detachable shower heads, and glass door enclosures.
The 54 Convertible showcases the signature Viking design elements of gently sloping sheerline, aggressively raked stem, double chines, hull-side vents, and exterior feature lines that combine to create the 54’s irresistibly attractive profile.
