The GT45 Express is the smallest of Hatteras’ current series of convertible sport fishing yachts, yet engineered with power, agility, performance, and amenities hardly ever found in a mid-40s size yacht—it runs and fishes like a much larger yacht. All GT series models share the same resin-infused, above waterline cored fiberglass hull and bottom, with prop-tunnels to reduce draft and improve performance. A stylish low-profile exterior with a traditional galley-down convertible layout is precisely designed for comfort, visual appeal, and ergonomic use of space that rivals the accommodations of high-end offshore motoryachts.
The legendary Hatteras build and ride quality, developed over decades of experience taking on the rough seas off Cape Hatteras, instills confidence in the owner/captain to relax and enjoy the boat—whether fishing, cruising, or entertaining aboard. The spacious 138 sq ft cockpit, roomy aft mezzanine lounge seating, and integrated electric grill are ideal for daytime entertaining and sunset cocktails. Set up for serious fishing, the cockpit features two large, insulated fish boxes and transom livewell with viewing port. An aluminum plate under the deck allows a fighting chair to be installed. The mezzanine includes two insulated storage compartments. A tackle and rigging station is to starboard, with additional tackle stowage in lower bridge deck area.
The flybridge provides a great vantage point with 360-degree visibility, including the stern, and well-positioned controls for backing down on a fish or docking. There is plenty of seating for guests with lounges to starboard and forward of the helm console, along with two captain’s chairs at the helm. The lower helm deck, a few steps up from the cockpit, features a centrally positioned helm with single-panel windshield for unobstructed all-around visibility and two chairs plus lounge and table or lounge and three captain’s chairs arrangements. Hatteras introduced a proprietary program, Hatt/CON, that controls and monitors every system from screens at the helms and throughout the boat via a smart phone, computer, or tablet, giving the captain complete command from virtually any location. The home screen lists all of the onboard functions that it monitors, such as engines, lighting, doors, bilge pumps, circuit breakers, navigation, and more.
Belowdecks accommodations can be configured with one or two staterooms; single cabin in the bow is standard with private access to the starboard head. Open concept cabin layout with fully equipped galley aft to starboard and L-shaped lounge with table to port. A flatscreen TV mounted on a low wall faces the lounge in the single stateroom model. Built-in storage eliminates clutter for a seamless, luxurious appearance highlighting Hatteras’ exceptional joinery.
The GT45X is 47’7” including its long bow pulpit. Beam is 16’6” and draft is 4ft. Fuel capacity is 800 gallons and water capacity is 100 gallons. Twin 835HP CAT C12.9 engines are standard, but most owners choose to upgrade for greater speed to twin 1136HP CAT C18’s. With the standard engines, weight is estimated at 49,700 lbs.
