Viking Yachts 60 Convertible - Mollie K - Sold By United Yacht Sales

When it comes to listing and selling of high-end sport fishing yachts, production or custom, it's tough to find anyone better in the industry than United Yacht Sales. Such was the case with MOLLIE K, a 2009 Viking Yachts 60 Convertible based at the Ocean Reef Club in North Key Largo, Florida. Well-known around the docks at Ocean Reef, UYS broker Greg Graham was the perfect fit to list and sell MOLLIE K and didn't have to go far outside of the United team to get her sold. MOLLIE K had an asking price of $1,890,000 at the time of sale. According to SoldBoats.com, Viking's between 55 and 65-feet, and year 2000 and newer, spent an average of 314 days on the market before selling. The existing brokerage environment today, particularly for convertible sportfish, is very much a seller's market. Late-model, well-kept boats are normally under contract very quickly once hitting the MLS if priced right and in good condition. At the time MOLLIE K was listed for sale, she featured several notable improvements including:

CAT C-32A 1,825HP engines had been rebuilt and had 1,300 hours
A Seakeeper Gyro had been installed
She had a complete paint job less than a year prior to selling
The bottom was soda-blasted
New Garmin electronics were installed in the bridge and tower
New batteries and battery charger were installed

"I was thrilled to get MOLLIE K as a listing through a referral from another client," said Greg. "The boat was absolutely turnkey and ready to fish. You could tell immediately that the owner had spared no expense with its upkeep. From there, we turned our marketing team loose on advertising the boat and we had a relatively easy, in-house sale.

One of the most exhilarating places on the Viking 60 to operate the yacht is from the custom Palm Beach Tuna Tower. Outfitted with tri-color LED lights both in the sunshade top and under the tower platform, this set up is sharp. There is a 60" control box, new Garmin 8612 12" display, as well as a new KVH satellite TV dish and HD dome.

The flybridge on MOLLIE K is a captain's paradise with comfortable seating in Murray Marine helm chairs, single-level controls for the CAT engines with electronic trolling valves, easy engine displays, bow thruster, and more. Additional features include a freezer box, refrigerator drink box, track-to-track air vents, and a 3-sided enclosure. New electronics installed include three Garmin 8616 displays.

No place on the Viking 60C is more important than the fighting cockpit. Designed for battle, the 60 Convertible boasts a spacious area for maneuvering around each other during intense battles in major bluewater tournaments. With a Murray Marine fighting chair, transom live-well, custom rod holder layout, and a mezzanine box with SS bait tray, the new owners are ready to fish. Comfort features on the cockpit include a nice mezzanine seating area with canvas shade, a cockpit step refrigerator box, additional freezer storage, a Dometic ice chipper, and both salt/fresh water washdowns.

It's hard to imagine a serious sportfish like MOLLIE K having an interior suitable for a luxury motor yacht, but Viking's dedication to leaving no detail untouched is quite apparent stepping inside the salon door. Large windows line the sides, allowing in plenty of natural light and giving guests wonderful views. There are several custom accents in the salon including the headliner material, which is Baby Ostrich Desert Sand, as well as the Dewberry-style sofa with rounded corners.

MOLLIE K features a 3-stateroom, 3-head layout including a large master suite with big time closet space. The massive amount of storage on the Viking 60C makes extended trips a lot easier for everyone on board to feel at home. The VIP stateroom features a double berth with a single bunk above it, and a beautiful en suite bathroom. The third stateroom features side-by-side single bunks.
