The 2023 White Marlin Open kicks off August 7th with over 400 boats entered and over $10 million in prize money up for grabs. As an industry leader in the sale of sportfishing yachts and center-consoles, United Yacht Sales is very much involved in the world's largest billfishing tournament. The 2023 White Marlin Open has a total payout of $10.3 million. There are many substantial individual payouts including 3 separate 'Heaviest White Marlin' entries that range from $1.5 million to nearly $1.9 million. Other entry level payouts include heaviest Swordfish, heaviest Blue Marlin, heaviest Tuna, and many more ways to win money. There are even categories with smaller buy-ins. For example, for $100 your mate on board your small boat (under 40-feet) can win $24,000 with the heaviest White Marlin.
How Much Does It Cost To Go All-In At The White Marlin Open?
Anglers can spend $100,000 to go "all in" on competing at the White Marlin Open. This investment into the tournament means you have a much greater chance of winning at least some of the categories, but it does give you the ability to win the big prize. 2022 winner Jeremy Duffie won over $4.5 million for catching a 77.5 lbs. White Marlin. If the cost of entry is too great, boats can even enter the tournament for as little as $1,000.
Where do the fish get weighed for the White Marlin Open?
Watching the fish come in to get weighed is a lot of fun for spectators and participants who might be done fishing. It generally draws quite the crowd as some of the fish that come in are incredible catches and the amount of money up for grabs. If you want to watch the weigh-ins, you'll have to go to Harbour Island in Ocean City, Maryland. Harbour Island is a gated community with a boardwalk on the bayside where everyone congregates to watch.

Basketball superstar Michael Jordan and his Viking 80 Convertible have competed several times in the White Marlin Open and they are back for 2023. Look for Jordan's boat "CATCH 23" at the weigh-in. His boat number is 130 and the team has entered multiple categories.
