Derecktor Ft Pierce Becomes First Shipyard Designed For 200-Foot 900-Ton Fleet

The new Derecktor Shipyard in Ft. Pierce, Florida is now taking reservations from megayacht owners around the world. Derecktor Ft. Pierce is the very first shipyard in America designed and built specifically for megayachts, superyachts, and large motor yachts. Offering full service, repairs, re-fits, and new construction, the facility's location is conveniently located right inside the Fort Pierce inlet and only 3 nautical miles from the Atlantic Ocean. "DFP", as its called, offers 28-foot deep-water access and has no overhead obstructions. DFP is built with the 200 foot, 900 ton, and up fleet in mind.

In case you were wondering, 1,500 tons is approximately 4.5 million pounds which is equivalent to a fully-fueled space shuttle!

United Professional Yacht Broker Christopher Cooke is a CPYB member, holds his 100-gross ton Captain's license, and believes the Derecktor Shipyard opening in Ft. Pierce will be a good thing for the yachting community. "Having a mobile hoist that can handle 1,500 tons is huge for the megayacht world," said Christopher. "You have a big influx of yachts in the winter that head down the coast to the Caribbean and this gives captains a convenient place in the U.S. to get any needed work.
