Designed and built from the ground-up for experienced gamefish anglers, this tournament-ready convertible sets the mark for the 59-60ft class with 40+ knot top end speed, outstanding seakeeping ability and comfortable ride, qualities which Hatteras is known for. And having greater fuel capacity gets the GT59 to distant fishing spots, and back. Although the GT59 is set up for offshore big game fishing with integrated rigging and built-in storage bow to stern, the GT59 can accommodate a range of fishing styles.
As a convertible, versatility is designed into the GT59 with exceptional living quarters and entertainment/social areas inside and out for cruising in luxurious comfort. The inherent low center of gravity of convertibles combined with the GT59’s wide beam, displacement weight, and sharp forefoot minimize uncomfortable sway and reduces slamming that can occur with certain motor yachts. Adding a
Seakeeper gyro stabilizer greatly enhances stability and comfort. Convertibles are built for taking on any sea condition (except named storms), and Hatteras vessels are especially capable having years of proven hull design and build experience for the treacherous waters off of North Carolina’s Cape Hatteras coast. Hatteras hulls below the waterline are solid fiberglass—no coring. They are built for durability and puncture resistance—extremely strong. Above the waterline, the hull and decks are cored with Divinycell for weight-savings and strength. Hatteras utilizes many other superior production processes to increase durability and performance—a signature of the Hatteras brand. Prop tunnels improve efficiency and performance and create less draft for access to shallower waters or boat slips.
Transmissions are rigged with deep gear ratios for improved efficiency and greater thrust when backing down on a fish or into a slip. Another Hatteras distinction is the labor-intensive painting of the hull, deck, and superstructure instead of gel-coating for the benefits it provides the owner—a beautiful glass-like surface in a color of the owner’s choice, durability, and the elimination of possible gelcoat osmotic blisters. It doesn’t oxidize like gelcoat and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.
The GT59 features a spacious 3-stateroom/2-head layout with the salon and galley on the same level.
An L-shaped lounge with low table is aft to port and the U-shaped galley is positioned forward with curved banquette and table on starboard side (optional GT59 version features an island bar and three fixed stools). A pop-up flatscreen TV is in forward starboard cabinet or alternately, built into a starboard entertainment unit. Starboard passageway leads to accommodations below. VIP stateroom with queen berth and private entry to guest head is forward. Guest cabin with two single bunks is to starboard.
Other layouts are available, but all have a stand-up rod storage locker in the companionway. Elegant master stateroom is aft to port with ensuite head and features a walk-in closet. Adding to the high-end ambience are the rounded door frame headers, an example of the superb Hatteras fit and finish.
Cockpit is 156 sq ft of fish-fighting area or, with optional gunwale drop-down seating and table on the leaning post/fighting chair stanchion (all options), a great entertainment area. Ready to fish features include transom tuna door and transom livewell, insulated in-deck fish boxes, tackle storage starboard located under 6-step angled flybridge ladder, is topped with the built-in grill. Storage box is built into mezzanine step and bait freezer is in seat to port. A refrigerated drink box is under step at cabin entrance. A fish finder viewing screen is mounted on the portside of mezzanine shaded by the flybridge aft overhang.
Flybridge with hardtop features a center console helm, captain and companion seats with removable backrest cushions (to allow clear aft view when backing), and excellent sightlines. Guest seating is to port and starboard, and a double-width lounge is in front of the console. Palm Beach helm and console feature the clean look of contemporary design with panels, instruments and controls hidden and covered until needed. Tower with secondary helm is optional.
The GT59 is 59’9” LOA with 18’9” beam. Draft is 4’9” and is powered by twin 1900HP CAT C-32A diesel engines and capable of 40+ knot top end speed. Fuel capacity is 1750 gallons, freshwater is 200-gal, and the holding tank capacity is 120 gallons. A second 21.5kW diesel generator can be added.
