Walt Strzalkowski

Having been a yacht broker since 1972, a graduate of Culver Military academy and UCLA, and ex-U.S. Navy, Walt grew up in a power-boating family in Southern California. After graduation, he purchased, and lived and cruised aboard his 53' Classic Pilot-Ketch "EVELYN" for nine years. His adventures took him through the Pacific, both coasts of Mexico, Central & South America, and the western Caribbean.

When he first received his sales license in 1972, he was, at only 24 years old, the youngest yacht broker up to that time, to receive a yacht broker’s license in California. In 1976, he joined with other responsible brokers and became one of the founding members of the CALIFORNIA YACHT BROKER’S ASSOCIATION. He operated FLYING CLOUD YACHTS in Long Beach from 1975 until he sold it in 1981, allowing him to sail to, and move his brokerage activity to Florida.

After a short term as one of the founders of TRANS AMERICA YACHTS in Ft. Lauderdale, he resigned to start YACHT SEARCH – The Professional Brokerage, which he has since run successfully for over 25 years. During his now 35 years as a licensed yacht broker in both California and Florida, Walt has sold thousands of vessels, both power and sail, throughout the hemisphere, and he has often arranged for shipping or delivery to the new owners on the U.S. West Coast, the Great lakes, the Caribbean, and South America.

As he speaks Spanish, Walt has a large client following in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. He travels regularly throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and he maintains a beach home on the north coast of Honduras. As a licensed private pilot, he resides in a residential airpark in Boynton Beach Florida, where he has his hangar behind his house, and an airstrip in his front yard.

Through the years, he has often been known as "Walt, the Hatteras guy" because of his in-depth knowledge of these boats, and his extensive track record of selling them.

During the last eight years, Walt has developed a focus of his brokerage activity on Catamarans, both Power and Sail. In addition to the brokering of used catamarans, he has become involved in the new construction of unique power catamaran motor yachts. For several years he was Director of Marketing for ATLANTIS YACHTS, and he currently represents high-quality shipyards in Chile, Canada, Turkey, South Africa, and the Caribbean.

Walt builds long-term relationships with his clients. Meticulous and attentive to the details of putting a sale together correctly, Walt surrounds himself with experts, and has established a network of colleagues and allies to assist him in the marine industry.

Walt’s office for YACHT SEARCH has been located at the Jet Center Terminal of the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport for 5 years. This beautiful office facility has now become the Ft. Lauderdale location of UNITED YACHT SALES, with which Walt is now affiliated. Same location… Same friendly, reliable service… New name... UNITED YACHT SALES.
